June Baranco is the ex-wife of American journalist and sportscaster Bryant Charles Gumbel. Gumbel co-hosted NBC Today for 15 years. Bryant, Baranco’s ex-husband, was the first to inform CBS viewers of the September 11 attacks. The ex-girlfriend of Baranco is renowned for playing himself on the NBC sitcom Seinfeld.

While Bryant struggles to avoid the headlines, June, his ex-wife, has become a topic of old talk. People think she may not have much to say about herself following her publicized breakup with a Bates College alum.

June Baranco: Bio, Age, Parents

Parents Jeannie Baranco and the late Joseph Baranco welcomed June into the world on June 22, 1948. She will be 73 years old in 2021. Her two brothers, Darryl and Joseph, live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she was raised.

Joe, a second brother she had, was a member of the United States Army who had also earned two Purple Hearts, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He died on February 4, 2006.

June Baranco was raised in Louisiana’s Baton Rouge. When she was just 8 or 9 years old, her aunt Eura, who was a seamstress, taught her how to sew by hand. June is of the Creole/Cajun ethnicity from Louisiana. People compared her appearance to young Tina Turner during the entirety of her youth and even into her fifties.

Louisiana State University was Baranco’s place of study. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in fine art from college in 1971.

June Baranco: Professional Life

June was most last thought to be operating her millinery business, Geaux Chapeaux, in Westchester County, New York. The business sells custom-made hats, headgear, and bridal millinery. The word “geaux” is pronounced “go” in its Creole/Cajun roots.

She enjoys gathering vintage hats, fabrics, hat blocks, lace, ribbons, and other accessories. She revealed that she frequently devoted her free time to researching their creation. The former partner of Gumbel, though, is concentrating all of her time now days on hats and growing Geaux Chapeaux.

Her goal is to empower fashion-conscious ladies to show their personality through bold headwear. Two of June’s hats survived Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal nuptials in 2018. Adrienne Bankert, a former ABC correspondent, was one of the bearers.

Oil paintings, pastels, printmaking, drawing, pottery, stained glass, and apparel designs are some of the ways the Cajun passes the time. In addition to being a board member for The Katonah Museum Artist Association in Katonah, New York, Bryant’s ex is a member of The Pastel Society, The Portrait Society, The Salmagundi Club, and Artist Fellowship. She has had exhibitions of her art in New York, California, Connecticut, Louisiana, and the United Kingdom.

Early in the 1970s, Bradley’s mother worked as a flight attendant for Delta. She spent a lot of her youth in California as a result. Later, she left her employment to fulfill her mother’s obligation. She was reportedly working as an artist after the wedding and running a studio in Westchester.

June Baranco and Bryant Gumbel Relationship Details

On December 1, 1973, the future long-time host of NBC’s Today and Baranco exchanged vows in a Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Catholic church.

In the late 1960s, when both June and Bryant were teenagers, they first became friends. They had met through one of her friends, who was dating Gregg, the brother of Gumble.

They met for the first time in Chicago, where they both had family. The summer between high school and college in June was when it happened. Despite being from the same state, Baranco remembered that she had never met anyone quite like him. When they finally began dating, they “had nothing in the bank but ambition.”

Gumbel used to reside in a small apartment in Manhattan’s Upper West Side while pursuing a career as a magazine sports writer at the start of their relationship. On the other side, June, who was from Louisiana, came to see him occasionally. Gumbel’s father met June on one of those occasions while taking her on a tour of Chicago and ended up liking her.

They originally purchased a home in Woodland Hills, California, and later bought a second one in Calabasas. They later acquired one in Manhattan, which was valued more than $3 million.

Children

Bryant and June had two kids while floating through life as husband and wife: Jillian was born in 1983, and Bradley was born on January 1, 1979.

The children of the LSU alum are now adults and have achieved considerable success. Jillian Beth, June’s daughter, is a fitness instructor who specializes in teaching yoga, transcendental meditation, and mobility yoga to athletes. At Sarah Lawrence College, Jillian completed a Bachelor of Science degree.Gillian, June’s daughter, is a mother of two kids.

Bradley Baranco attended Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida while after school, but he then transferred to Manhattanville College.

June Baranco and Bryant Gumbel’s Bitter Divorce

The couple filed for legal separation in 2001, almost three decades after they started dating. The former flight attendant disclosed that Gumbel’s final overnight stay with her was on June 28, 1997.

Even though they didn’t separate ways until after the turn of the century, their relationship had soured since the mid-1990s. According to some accounts, June actually made threats to quit the Emmy-winning reporter in 1995. She celebrated her 50th birthday and their 24th, 25th, and 26th wedding anniversaries alone, according to June.

Gumbel’s then-estranged wife, June, allegedly told the Washington Post in 2000 that he cheated on her throughout their marriage. June had discovered the letters, which each detailed his proclivities for women.

In addition, pictures of her husband having a good time with other ladies have been used as magazine material for years. Additionally, June had overheard him talking to his girlfriend. According to rumors, Gumbel was seeing Hilary Quinlan, a former Goldman Sachs analyst who is now a model.

Divorce Settlement

June was awarded the couple’s lavish Westchester mansion and Upper East Side apartment at the proceedings in August 2001. She also received Gumbel’s share of his wealth.

However, Baranco refused his plea for him to share the Westchester property. She claimed that The Trumpet Award winner sought shared custody since it was close to his gold club and he wanted to take his girlfriend there. She claimed that because she made so many wonderful memories on that place, it would have been insufferable for her.

Although Bryant has never publicly stated the cause of their divorce, his ex-wife June said that it was due to his adultery. She reportedly added that the NBC presenter had verbally abused her when they were married. The 1988 Olympic host, though, denied abusing his wife or children or disparaging the former.

Bryant Gumbel Current Marriage

Bryant and Hilary Quinlan moved on. She was both his longtime friend and the woman the Peabody Award winner was building a connection with while married to June, as was already established. At the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach, they got married in August 2002. Only about 25 friends and several family members attended the ceremony.

June Baranco: Current Relationship Status

Baranco has talked about everything in her otherwise expressive Instagram life, from her love for her children, grandchildren, brothers, and friends to all of her artistic endeavors.

But the mother of two June hasn’t disclosed her current marital status in any of those activities. She appears to be occupied with both marketing her headgear company and spending time with her grandchildren.

So it’s probably safe to conclude that June Baranco, Gumbel’s ex-wife, is single and content on her own.
