John Legend Opens Up Emotionally About Losing Unborn Child and What Helped Them Heal As a Couple

Teigen was expecting their third child, Jack, in September 2020, but John Legend and Chrissy Teigen suffered a miscarriage halfway through the pregnancy. The singer spoke with CBS This Morning on April 28, 2021, and shared his family’s traumatic experience seven months prior.

Legend, unlike Teigen, is a more private person, so he was reluctant to speak about their baby’s death. However, the two were supported by sharing. It made the singer more conscious of how many women around the world suffer from miscarriage.
On Twitter and Instagram, several people shared their own stories and expressed their love for the pair. Legend said that they felt a strong sense of belonging and that they were seen by each other as a result of their mutual trauma.

The ‘Love Me Now’ singer also praised his wife for having the courage to tell the world about their loss. He said that doing so was the best thing to do because it assisted them and other families in dealing with their grief. He felt that by telling their experiences, they made people feel less alone.


Teigen took to Instagram and Twitter to post a series of emotional pictures of herself and Legend in the hospital, mourning the loss of their baby Jack. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to save the kid. Teigen admitted that they never settle on their children’s names before they are born, but the third time was different.

The couple had given the baby the name Jack and vowed that he would always be a part of their family, no matter where he was.

The model thanked all who had supported her and expressed gratitude for their thoughts and prayers. She also expressed her love for her two children, Luna and Miles, and vowed that the family will get through the loss of Jack.

The Legend-Teigen Love Story

Legend and Teigen have the perfect love story; from hilariously roasting each other on Twitter to sharing a romantic movie night, theirs is a one-of-a-kind relationship. Teigen was just a model for the singer’s song “Stereo” fourteen years ago. They spent the whole day together and hooked up at night, eventually falling in love and starting a relationship a few months later.

Over the call, Legend fell in love with Teigen, praising her wit and humor. Once upon a time, a newlywed couple went through a one-day split. Teigen had joined Legend on his tour when the singer of “Ordinary People” became ill and had to cancel a concert. He broke up with the model due to stress and illness; however, she accepted his condition at the time, and the two of them are still together to this day.

Legend proposed to Teigen in the Maldives in 2011 after four years of dating. They married in September 2013 in Lake Como, Italy, which is also the setting for Legend’s Grammy-nominated song “All of Me,” which is dedicated to his wife. Before flying to their destination wedding, the pair got legally married in a New York courthouse.

Teigen gave birth to their first child, Luna, in 2016, and their second child, Miles, in 2018, both via IVF. Despite their difficulties, the couple is surviving and flourishing and enjoying their “happily ever after.”
