Joe Taslim’s Workout Plan
Joe is one of Indonesia’s most talented martial artist actors. I’ve always admired these performers because they don’t rely on stuntmen to carry out the action and instead put themselves in situations where they are the ones in risk. That is why being an action star is difficult, as you will continually be putting yourself in situations that could jeopardize your career.
Joe is no stranger to stunts and combat sequences, and he’s also no stranger to working out and being a martial artist. So, how did the actor prepare for his role in one of the most well-known martial arts films of all time? Well, I’d say we’re in luck because Men’s Health recently interviewed the majority of the Mortal Kombat cast, including Joe.
In that interview, Joe talks about his routine, which is quite simple and perhaps what you’d expect from a martial artist. Joe enjoys a variety of workouts, but he also enjoys working out with minimal equipment. Joe will never use a lot of equipment or engage in proper weight training. The treadmill is one piece of equipment that he enjoys using.
Joe Taslim’s workout comprises the following:
Treadmill
Joe mentioned that he uses a treadmill for 20 minutes of high-intensity training to get a decent warm-up and burn a lot of calories. It’s one of the best cardiovascular exercises since it causes your heart to beat so quickly that your body begins to burn a lot of calories.
Training in the Shadows
Joe later demonstrates shadow training, which in Judo is utilizing one’s imagination to combat one’s own shadow. Joe, on the other hand, utilizes a punching bag for this, and he likes to swing it around as much as possible to see it as an opponent approaching him.
Joe also does five cycles of five minutes as a circuit or high-intensity exercise. This allows him to finish his warm-up for his bag workout, which he does after this program.
Workout with a heavy bag or boxing
Joe will be doing a mix of Judo, boxing, and kickboxing in the heavy bag session. He maintains a high level of energy by resting less between sessions and sparring intensely.
This workout is similar to the previous one, but it is much more intense. The round count and duration remain the same as well, with five rounds of five minutes each. After each round, take a minute to rest.
Weight Training
As a martial artist, he can’t have too much muscle volume since it will impede his movement, therefore he doesn’t spend a lot of time on weight training. As a result, Joe performs a full-body workout that includes the following exercises:
Sets: 4
Reps: 12
- Overhead press
- Chest press
- And crunch machine
- Hanging leg raises
- Judo/Hindu push-ups
