His family raised him in Comer Hill, Alabama, but his father and mother divorced and began their own families. Jesse lived on Comer Hill with his grandparents, who were plantation workers. Jesse grew up in Gary with his mother and stepfather before moving to Los Angeles.
In 1991, he founded Brother Of New Destiny (BOND), a non-profit religious organization dedicated to “Rebuilding the Family by Rebuilding the Man.” He targeted black young men like himself in order to unite the races and achieve his vision of racial equality.
Jesse began counseling people in schools, universities, churches, prisons, and even jails, dealing with emotions and personal problems. After a few decades, he was able to help people of all races all across America with his recognition of BOND.
