He began his journalism career at Reno’s KRNV-TV. After two years, he moved to Virginia to anchor and report for WRIC-TV. As he covered major Southeast storms at the time, the anchor encountered his first hurricanes. He also frequently traveled to Washington, D.C. to report from the White House.
Then he traveled to his main news market in Miami, Florida. Meanwhile, drug trafficking and racial tensions were at an all-time high. As a result, he was able to cover the 1989 race riots and drug busts in Miami. Those international assignments took him to Mexico and Panama, where he covered the US-led deposition of Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega.
Jeff made his first appearance in Los Angeles in 1990. He was an ABC7 Eyewitness News crime reporter. He won the first two Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards while working for ABC. In fact, during his eight years with Channel 7, he was even named Weekend Anchor.
The anchor quickly left for Fox 11, where he worked for 18 years. He then became the co-anchor of CBS’s KCAL9 in January 2017.
