He rose to prominence after performing an open-mic set at ‘The Comedy Store,’ a comedy club in Soho, London, England, in 1986. He’d gone to the club after work on the spur of the moment, oblivious to the fact that it would change his life forever.
He began performing in a variety of venues in the 1990s, including the London Palladium and the Hammersmith Apollo. He quickly began to perform in a number of other high-profile venues.
