“The Demon,” as Gene Simmons is known, is a legendary rocker from Kiss, one of the most iconic metal bands of all time.
Gene is more than just a rockstar behind all that make-up. He and Sharon Tweed have a son and a daughter together, and he is a good father.
Fans of the A&E reality show Gene Simmons Family Jewels, which aired for seven seasons and ended in 2012, may know Nick Simmons, the oldest son, and Sophie Simmons, the youngest daughter.
When the show aired, the youngest of Simmons’ children was in her preteens. But today, she is a 29-year-old musician, model, and actress who has followed in both of her parents’ footsteps.
Sophie Simmons’ Career, Gene Simmons’ Daughter
Sophie’s decision to pursue a musical career was a no-brainer because she is the daughter of a well-known musician. During her formative years, she knew music was her calling. She told Harpers Bazaar that she knew she wanted to be a musician since she was four years old.
But, having grown up surrounded by celebrities, the reality star understood what it meant to be renowned and chose a different path.
The singer, who did not want to follow in her father’s footsteps and become a child star, started a musical career on her own.
“I wanted to do it myself,” the singer explained, “and I wanted it to be hard and authentic when it happened, at the proper time, with songs that I made, not songs that someone gave me.”
Sophie Simmons auditioned for The X Factor, a Fox competition talent show, and wowed the judges.
The former candidate, on the other hand, did not make it very far and was quickly removed. As a self-employed artist, it was a difficult road to travel. Until 2015, when she signed with Casablanca Records, she was rejected by every major record company.
Even then, the singer struggled to convince Apple Music and Spotify to include her on playlists in order to gain visibility.
She was eventually successful. ‘Black Mirror,’ her debut single, was added to Spotify’s dance-pop and Women of Electronic playlists. The song was also featured on Apple’s Best of the Week and Weekend lists.
Sophie Simmons is a strong supporter of body positivity.
Sophie Simmons also models in addition to singing
The model claimed in an interview with People that when she was 14, she tried modeling and was told she “wasn’t petite enough.”
Even when she was accepted by an agency, she was not sent to auditions, and they wouldn’t tell her why. Growing up as an overweight kid on television was also traumatic, according to the iconic rockstar’s daughter.
“If you look at other kids in the spotlight, they’re all really skinny, fit models,” she explained. “I’m not sure how it happens by chance, but that’s simply not my body type.”
There were no icons for her to look up to, according to the ‘Black Mirror’ singer. But she’s changing that by advocating for body positivity, and she starred in the Straight/Curve documentary as part of that effort.
In 2014, the model debuted a body-positive clothing line for The Style Club in support of the removal of discrimination and body shaming, which has been a hot topic in the fashion industry for decades.
