The Houston Rockets point guard, John Wall, has played in the NBA since 2010. After being selected first overall in the 2010 NBA draft, he began his professional career with the Washington Wizards.

Aside from his basketball prowess, John Wall has recently been known for his tattoos. Something he wasn’t known for in his early years as a player. Wall is a native of North Carolina who was primarily reared by his mother.

Wall Senior, his father, was incarcerated for second-degree murder and died of liver cancer just a month after his release in 1999. During his adolescence, Wall was a brawler who dabbled with vices including fighting and burglary.

A Look Back at John Wall’s Early Years

As a last choice, Wall resorted to basketball to get his life in shape, and he hasn’t looked back since. He’s built a name for himself and has a decent reputation.

Wall started out as a member of two amateur athletic union teams in Garner, North Carolina. Initially for Garner Road, then D-One Sports. Following his enrollment at Garner Magnet High School, Wall was given the opportunity to polish his basketball skills. Unfortunately, Wall’s two-year relationship with Garner had to come to an end due to his family’s transfer to Raleigh, North Carolina.

During tryouts after being accepted to Needham B. Broughton High School, he wowed everyone. However, due to attitude concerns, the young player was not selected for the high school team.

Wall transferred schools for the third time, this time enrolling in Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh. It was here that the athlete found the ideal setting for showcasing and honing his skills.

College and Professional Careers of John Wall

In 2009, Wall enrolled at the University of Kentucky and immediately made an impression with his ability. On September 22, 2017, Wall was inducted into the University of Kentucky Athletics Hall of Fame.

The year 2010 proved to be pivotal in Wall’s career, as he was signed by Reebok as their NBA face on June 23, 2010. The young star’s ambition of playing professional basketball came realized just one day after signing with Reebok.

During the 2010 NBA draft, he was selected as the number one choice by the Washington Wizards. Before joining the Houston Rockets, Wall spent a decade with the Washington Wizards.

The Tattoos of John Wall

For a long time, basketball player John Wall was not known to have any tattoos on his body. Instead, he was notorious for avoiding body art in order to maintain his good-boy image.

In addition, several media sources claimed that the basketball wizard always dressed well to protect his image, particularly among children who love NBA stars. According to the Washington Post, Wall has turned down tattoos on multiple times owing to image and commercial concerns.

Wall claims he couldn’t defy his mother’s advise and get the tattoo he’d desired since he was a youngster. Fast forward to 2013, and Wall’s body featured tattoo work on his abdomen, back, and one of his chests, but he had no artwork on his visible body parts.

Randy Harris of Tattoos by Randy, Wall’s tattoo artist, drew analogies to NBA legend Kevin Durant and stated how Wall wanted all of his tattoos to be hidden. However, Wall’s recent social media post indicates a shift in his opinion toward tattoos. On Instagram, he shared a photo of himself with tattooed drawings all over his body.

According to a report by ClutchPoints.com, Wall has his mother’s name etched on his right chest, along with the inscription “Mommas Boy,” and an image of a tiny Wall and his father proudly rests on the left side of his chest.

Similarly, he has a brick design on his back, as well as the inscription Great Wall. In addition, his midsection displays the whole skyline, area code, and trademark interstate-40 road sign of Raleigh, where he grew up.
