The beginning of Hanson
Hanson is a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based American pop and power band founded in 1992 by three brothers, Isaac, Taylor, and Zac. Dimitrius Collins and Andrew Peruse are two additional members who have performed and toured with the band live since 2007. The band was named after three brothers’ surnames.
They rose to fame and fortune after releasing their debut album, “Middle of Nowhere,” in 1991, which was released by Mercury Records and received three Grammy nominations in 1998. Mercury Records, a group label with sister labels, was later acquired by Island Def Jam Music Group. After releasing one album on Island Def Jam, the group disbanded.
Evolution of Hanson
In 1992, at the Mayfest Arts Festival in Tulsa, this fantastic pop band performed for the first time. They changed their name from Hanson Brothers to Hanson in 1993. They began their musical careers as pianists, but two of them eventually switched to guitar (Isaac) and drums (Jonathan) (Zac). Later, in their hometown of Tulsa, they independently recorded two albums, MMMBop and Boomerang. Then, in their debut album “Middle of Nowhere,” MMMBop became their single runway.
They played a show in Austin, Texas, where they were discovered and signed by legendary manager Christopher Sebac. Due to their outstanding performances, they were later signed by Mercury Records. This album has sold nearly 10 million copies worldwide. They became well-known as a result of this album, and they were nominated for a Grammy Award in 1998.
Their popularity was exploding like lava, and in the wake of their success, Mercury Records released their first-ever documentary. Tulsa Governor Frank Keating declared May 6 to be “Hanson Day.” They approached their good friend Jarrod Gollihare of Admiral Twin to write their authorized biographies after their unauthorized biographies were released. February Hanson: The Official Book debuted at number nine on the New York Times Best Seller List in 1998. Following their enormous popularity, they embarked on a successful concert tour known as the Albertine Tour.
They released tracks from their albums MMMBop and Boomerang in the order in which they were released previously. Mercury Records teamed up with Island Def Jam to release their second album, “This Time Around,” in 2000. Sales were low due to a lack of promotional funds. They used their funds to go on a summer tour.
They left Island Def Jam after the label refused to release 80 songs from them due to a lack of marketability, and began their career with an independent label called 3CG Records. They have various distribution agreements all over the world. They also signed a management contract with “10th Street Entertainment.”
They released “Underneath,” their most successful album, which sold nearly 37,500 copies in its first week. During that time, they developed a sizable fan base, which motivated them to work harder. “Talking the Walk,” their first documentary, was released on iTunes in 2007.
Following the release of their fourth album, “The Walk,” on May 6, 2007, they re-recorded their first major album to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Hanson Day. They held a concert in their hometown, and all of their fan club members were invited.
Hanson is no longer just a rock band. It’s a way of bringing love, hope, light, and respect to everyone.
