The 76ers faced the Washington Wizards in Game 5 after falling 122-114 in Game 4 due to Joel Embiid’s injury in the first quarter.
The 76ers looked to wrap up the series against the Wizards on Wednesday night, despite the absence of their star center.
THE 76ERS DEFEATED THE WIZARDS 129-112 WITH THREE STARTERS SETH CURRY, TOBIAS HARRIS, AND BEN SIMMONS STEPPING UP IN EMBIID’S ABSENCE.
Seth Curry had a playoff career high in points, and Ben Simmons had a triple-double.
The 76ers have advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals, where they will face the Atlanta Hawks.
Bradley Beal, on the other hand, led the scorers with 32 points despite the loss.
In the first quarter, both teams tied the game.
Russell Westbrook began the quarter with a jumper, and Simmons responded with a layup.
On the next possession, Bradley Beal made a layup.
Seth Curry’s miss pass to Simmons resulted in another basket for the Wizards, this time from Rui Hachimura, who sank a layup.
As a result, they were 8-4 with 10 minutes left in the quarter after Curry hit a long jumper for two points.
Russell Westbrook made a jumper, and Beal followed with another.
Gafford’s pass to Westbrook was deflected by Matisse Thybulle.

In the second quarter, the 76ers took the lead.
After more than a minute, Robin Lopez started the quarter with a bucket on George Hill’s pass.
Korkmaz scored on Maxey’s pass to make it 34-31 with 9:42 left in the quarter.
Hachimura responded by knocking down a jumper. Maxey then threw down a jumper.
Maxey followed with a layup, keeping the Wizards’ lead at three points.
On the other end, Beal quickly made a layup.
Westbrook fumbled the ball, and Maxey drove straight to the rim for a layup.
On Westbrook’s pass, Gafford made a layup, and Raul Neto followed with a three-pointer.
Curry responded by sinking a long three-pointer. Following that, Hachimura connected on a three-pointer.
Harris hit a jumper, and Neto responded with a jump shot.
Simmons later stole the ball from Hachimura.
They were 51-49 with less than three minutes remaining in the quarter when Beal hit a jumper.
Harris responded with a layup, and Westbrook followed with a jumper.
With 1:30 left in the quarter, Simmons hit a floater to cut the lead to two points.

However, the Wizards regained the lead with 9.5 seconds remaining.

In the third quarter, the 76ers dominated the Wizards.
Westbrooks got the third quarter started with a three-pointer just over a minute into the game.

With 9:16 remaining in the quarter, Beal tied the game at 70-70 with a hook shot off his miss.

Harris responded with a three-pointer off Curry’s pass. He also intercepted Beal’s pass to Hachimura before passing to Simmons.
Simmons then drew a foul and scored a layup. Thybulle added another basket, this time a three-pointer.
Lopez hit a hook shot to cut the 76ers’ lead to two points.
The score was 95-87 with 1:57 remaining, with the 76ers leading.
Lopez was stopped at the rim by Dwight Howard. Simmons then drove to the basket and made a layup.
George Hill’s lob to Howard resulted in another bucket for the 76ers.
Smith hit a three-pointer with 28.9 seconds left in the quarter.
On the other end, Korkmaz hit a three-pointer.
The quarter ended with the 76ers leading 94-103.
The 76ers maintained their lead in the fourth quarter.
Howard got the quarter started with a block on Smith. Korkmaz followed with a three-pointer.
Maxey made a layup to spark a 5-0 run. Beal then threw down a fadeaway jumper.
As a result, they were 97-110 with less than nine minutes remaining in the game after Hachimura hit a jump shot.
Tobias Harris found Simmons for a bucket, and Curry followed suit on the next possession.
Simmons’ two-handed dunk gave the 76ers a 19-point lead.
With 4:13 left in the quarter, Harris hit a floater to spark a 12-2 run that gave the 76ers a 21-point lead.
Hachimura hit a jumper. On the other end, Harris nailed a long jumper.
Hachimura hit another jumper, and Maxey responded with a hook shot.
Finally, the 76ers won 112-129 and advanced to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
On Sunday, they will face the Atlanta Hawks, who defeated the Knicks and took a 4-1 lead.
The victory was shared by Curry, Simmons, and Harris.

While Ben Simmons recorded his third postseason triple-double with 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 11 assists.

Aside from them, three other 76ers players scored in double figures, all of whom came off the bench.

The Wizards got off to a fast start, taking the lead early in the first quarter, but were unable to maintain their lead.
Despite the loss, the Wizards made some outstanding offensive plays.
Bradley Beal led the Wizards with 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists.
Russell Westbrook followed with a double-double of 24 points and 10 assists, as well as 9 rebounds.
