Fred Blankenship, WSB-TV Atlanta’s Channel 2 anchor, has been married to wife Paige Blankenship since 2004, and the couple has faced the ups and downs of life together for almost 15 years.

Fred’s wife is a cancer survivor in addition to being a mother and a career success. Read on to learn how Fred Blankenship and Paige overcame health challenges in their lives and how their family enjoys life’s simple pleasures.

The Wife of Fred Blankenship Has Been Diagnosed With Cancer When She Turned 30

According to their anniversary post in 2020, Fred and Paige Blankenship had just started their married life on September 3, 2004. Paige was roughly 30 years old at the time, and Fred was 32.

Sadly, just a year into their marriage, the Blankenships received devastating news in the fall of 2005. Paige, who had recently begun a new job as a marketing and client relations manager at Lifewellness Institute, a lifestyle medicine provider, underwent a full-body physical to learn more about the product she would be assisting in the sale of.

Paige chronicles her entire ordeal in a blog, where she describes her diagnosis in detail and even offers a few tips for surviving a fatal disease like cancer. She explains:

As I drove home, I was taken aback by the prospect of having to tell my husband that I had cancer.
She discovered she had thyroid cancer at this physical, and she decided to get surgery as soon as possible.
During the procedure, the physicians discovered that the cancer had moved from the left side of her thyroid to the right side, as well as into her lymph nodes. Her thyroid, as well as lymph nodes in her neck and chest, were removed as a result.

Paige remained upbeat during her cancer treatment.

In her blog, Paige stated, “Cancer thrives in unfavorable surroundings.” She maintained an optimistic attitude throughout her treatment.

Paige claimed it took her months to recuperate physically after the operation and removal of the malignant sections of her body, but she was never the same emotionally. “I underwent radiation in the form of a tablet around four weeks later,” she added. It took several months for me to feel like myself again in terms of energy, but my cheerful attitude remained unwavering.”

She went on to say that she was terrified, but that she didn’t want the dread to control her thoughts. I was terrified, of course. Who wouldn’t be afraid if they were told they had cancer at the age of 30? But I didn’t want that to dictate my mood, my day, or my optimistic view. I went on with my business as normal.

Even after cancer treatment, she had health issues.

Fred and his wife created a family after his wife beat cancer and returned to normalcy, or as normal as one can be after such a traumatic experience. Fred currently has three lovely children: two sons, Freddie and Jaden, and a daughter, Layla.

Paige had all three of them before she had been cancer-free for eight years. And she expressed her desire to have another child and expand her family to five members in her personal blog. Her health, however, prevented her from doing so.

She yearned for a fourth child at the tender age of 38. She asked her endocrinologist if she was too old to have another child at a normal exam. She wasn’t too old, according to the doctor, but she should get a thorough body checkup to see if she was in good enough health to have another child.

After a battery of testing, it was discovered that her blood contained thyroid cells. The testing proceeded, though, because she shouldn’t have had thyroid cells inside her.

Fortunately, she did not develop cancer again. She was diagnosed with a Splenic Artery Aneurysm, though (SAA). Doctors cautioned her against having a child since it could endanger her and her baby’s lives.

Her health issues had not totally vanished. During a mammography in July 2015, four high-risk unusual tumors in her right breast were discovered. Because of all the radiation she had been exposed to in the past, this had happened.

Paige had to undergo a double mastectomy with breast reconstruction in September 2015, at the age of 40.

Fred Blankenship and Paige Blankenship Continue to take pleasure in life to the fullest

Despite everything that has happened to her, she continues to radiate brightness and happiness. With her position as Director of Marketing at Havener Capital Partners LLC, three children, and three dogs (who have their own Instagram account), she is currently living life to the fullest.
Paige also enjoys the small pleasures in life, such as preparing lunch for her children. She highlighted her delight in doing tasks such as helping her children with their homework and making lunch for them in a Twitter post.

Fred and his family get together for various occasions, and his wife captures everything that happens in their life on Instagram, from birthdays to anniversaries to holiday celebrations.
