Everything You Need to Know About the Champions League Final Between Chelsea and Manchester City

Two English clubs will compete against one another in the Champions League final for the third time in the competition’s history.

Chelsea and Manchester City will square off.

Chelsea will participate in the championship game for the third time. They have so far had one victory and one defeat.

Manchester City will compete in their first-ever UEFA Champions League final. They have only ever been able to advance to the semifinals.

With two different clubs, Thomas Tuchel, who is currently Chelsea’s manager, will compete in his second consecutive Champions League final.

He and current Chelsea player Thiago Silva led PSG to their first final appearance in the 2019–20 season.
The German did not, however, win the game.

Tuchel wants to make history by becoming the first manager to win the Champions League after making two appearances in a row.

What Meant They To Get Here?

Chelsea: With 14 points, Chelsea finished first in group E. They played six games, winning four and drawing just two.

Throughout the group stage, the Blues only allowed two goals while also scoring fourteen.

Chelsea easily defeated Atletico Madrid, who are currently the La Liga champions, by a combined score of 3-0 in the Round of 16.

The Quarterfinals, though, against Porto, felt a little more challenging. It appeared to be a close contest on paper.

However, it was all Chelsea when the game began. They defeated Porto 2-1 overall, securing their spot in the semi-finals.

Thomas Tuchel played Real Madrid, the other side of Madrid, in the semifinals. Everyone believed that the Blues’ journey would come to an end with this.

But the London boys disproved everyone.

Chelsea advanced to the UEFA Champions League finals by defeating Real Madrid 3-1 over the course of both legs.

Since defeating Bayern in 2012, this will be their first participation in the championship game.

Manchester City: With sixteen points, Manchester City won group C, where they began their campaign.

In six games, they had five victories, one tie, fifteen goals scored, and one goal allowed.

They defeated German team Borussia Monchengladbach 4-0 in the Round of 16 to advance.

Similar to this, Man City traveled to Dortmund’s side of the Borussia field to play in the quarterfinals.
The match between Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho and City was broadcast to the entire world.

However, City prevailed in the match with a final score of 4-2.

The “oil-money derby” between Pep Guardiola’s team and Paris Saint-Germain took place in the semifinals.

During the Pep Guardiola era, ManCity never advanced past the Quarters, and everyone assumed that this would be the end of their adventure.

Kylian Mbappe and Neymar were among the players on PSG’s starting lineup that was at its strongest.

But because they were unable to get through the tight City defense, those two just could not perform to their full potential.

Manchester City easily defeated them 4-1 to secure their place against Chelsea in the championship game.

This season, Pep Guardiola has already won the Premier League and the Carabao Cup.

They are vying for the coveted “treble,” and if they succeed, they will become just the second Premier League team to accomplish that feat.

In Manchester’s history, only the Red team has achieved the coveted “treble,” which also includes the Champions League.

In their first-ever Champions League final, Manchester City will compete for what they hope will be their first significant European trophy under Pep Guardiola.

Potential Lineup

Both of these clubs have dealt with one or more player injuries. Mendy, a goalie for Chelsea, recently had to be replaced after he injured his ribs in the middle of a game.

Along with Mendy, Ngolo Kante was sidelined for a period of games due to a hamstring injury.

Everyone on the team has been deemed “fit to play,” giving Thomas Tuchel a major advantage.

Therefore, Edouard Mendy and Ngolo Kante will both begin the game’s final

Regarding Manchester City, there have recently been injury rumors involving both Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne and German midfielder Illkay Gundogan.

However, it doesn’t appear to be a significant situation, thus they will join the squad.

Looking at everything, we predict that the following lineups will be used by both teams:

Mendy, Azpilicueta, Silva, Rudiger, James, Kante, Kovacic, Chilwell, Mount, Havertz, and Werner are Chelsea players.

Ederson, Cancelo, Laporte, Dias, Mendy, Silva, KDB, Sterling, Aguero, and Mahrez are ManCity players.

Adaptive League Statistics

With 86 points, Manchester City easily won the Premier League for the 20/21 season.

They won twenty-seven games overall, scoring eighty-three goals and giving up just thirty two.

Chelsea, on the other hand, finished fourth in the league with 67 points after scoring 58 and allowing 36.

They have guaranteed themselves a spot in the top four for the past two seasons.

Earlier meetings

Chelsea and Manchester City will have played each other in a final for the fourth time.

In the Premier League, Manchester City has only ever defeated the Blues once.

However, Chelsea has defeated them twice. Twice in the FA Cup Semifinals and once in the Premier League.

Overall, Pep Guardiola has already fallen to Thomas Tuchel, his former BvB rival, twice.
