Marilyn Milian  attended Harvard Law School for a year. She subsequently transferred to Georgetown Law School, where she graduated with honors. She also earned a 4.0 GPA in Psychology at the University of Miami.

Prior to her television employment, she worked as an Assistant State Attorney for the Dade County State Attorney’s Office from 1984 to 1994.

In 1999, Florida Governor Jebb Bush appointed her to the Miami Circuit Court. She worked in the Criminal Division of the City of Miami. Her partner is also a judge on the Miami Circuit Court.

Surprisingly, Milian has also dabbled with acting. She has two acting credits: one for playing a judge in the 2002 television series As the World Turns, and the other for impersonating Judge Alvarez in the 2007 television show George Lopez.
