Doria Ragland, a former makeup artist, business owner, yoga instructor, and social worker who worked in the mental health sector, is related to the British royal family. Doria caused quite a stir when she was seen leaving Oprah Winfrey’s home.
Doria and Oprah had lunch while doing yoga, which the media mistook for Oprah’s next TV special with a royal family relative.
Doria Ragland: Wife and Children
Doria started her career as a makeup artist on the set of the soap opera General Hospital.
She met her ex-husband, Thomas Markle, who was working as a lighting director on the set of the show. On December 23, 1979, they married at Paramahansa Yogananda’s Self-Realization Fellowship Temple in Hollywood.
Doria gave birth to her first child, Rachel Meghan Markle, on August 4, 1981, after years of marriage.
Doria’s daughter is none other than Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, a former actress with a $5 million net worth. Doria also has step-children from her husband’s previous marriage to Roslyn Markle, Thomas Markle Jr. and Samantha Grant.
Meghan’s parents divorced when she was six years old and have not remarried since. Both parents contributed to Meghan’s upbringing.
People may recognize Doria from Meghan Markle’s wedding to Prince Harry, a member of the British royal family and the sixth in line of succession to the British throne.
Doria welcomed her first grandchild, Archie Mountbatten Windsor, seventh in line to the British throne, to the world on May 6, 2019. In July 2019, she attended her grandson’s christening at Windsor Castle’s Private Chapel.

Doria Ragland: Family, Parents, and Siblings
Doria Ragland was born Doria Loyce Ragland on September 2, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Her mother, Jeanette Arnold, was an African-American nurse who passed away in 2000 at the age of 71.
Alvin Ragland, her father, was an antique dealer who sold items at flea markets. Her mother’s second husband, her father, died in 2011 at the age of 82.
Doria’s family relocated from Cleveland to Los Angeles when she was a baby, and her parents divorced around 1983. Her father married Ava Burrow, a kindergarten teacher who had a good relationship with Doria because they were of similar ages.
Doria has two half-siblings, Joseph Jr. and Saundra Johnson, on her mother’s side. She also has a younger half-brother, Joffrey Ragland, on her father’s side.
Doria also started working as a makeup artist after graduating from Fairfax High School.
She then completed her education in Psychology with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2011, she earned a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Southern California.
