Music is thought to be one of the most effective ways to relieve stress because it contains that power, and people who perform music are the coolest people on the planet because making people dance, sing, and groove all at the same time by mixing music and performing to thousands of people is insane, and Dj Nina is that cool lady who makes people dance on her beat and makes people love her.
Considered an original MTV VJ Nina had begun her career at a young age. When MTV debuted in 1981, it not only introduced us to a new art form – the music video – but also to a new type of TV personality: the VJ. Nina has done it all to entertain people, from presenting videos to hosting shows and reporting the news on the music channel’s talking heads.
Oh god. Well, basically, when I moved from New York to L.A., people were saying “What happened to Nina?” “Oh, she took some job at some cable music program.” Cable was in its infancy, so it wasn’t like it is now with 200-something channels. [MTV] grew as cable grew, little by little. Initially MTV wasn’t available in New York, so on a day-to-day basis we didn’t know how big we were, but when they would send us out on personal appearances, we were mobbed! We’d go, “Wow, this is really taking off!” And then once we hit New York, it was like, “See ya later.”.
Nina had a lot to say about her experience and profession in a 2013 interview with thedailybeast.com. In the same interview, she discussed how the program has changed and is no longer what it used to be, as well as why she quit.
“I think really when the first nonmusic program started. I had left by then.”
After amicably parting ways with the network in 1986, Blackwood accepted an unprecedented dual show contract with Paramount Television, anchoring both her own weekly “Rock Report” on Entertainment Tonight and co-hosting TV’s award-winning show “Solid Gold.” After appearing in films such as “ViceSquad” (1982), “Reckless Kelly” (1993), and “I Crave Rock & Roll” (1996), Blackwood began her radio hosting career in 1999, when she and longtime manager/producer Danny Sheridan launched a nationally syndicated radio show for United Stations Radio Network called “Nina Blackwood’s Absolutely 80’s.”
In 1997, she starred in a television series called “Lois and Clark: “The New Adventures of Superman,” followed by “Walt Disney’s Wonderful World of Color” in 1998. She then joined the touring company of “The V****a Monologues” in 2003.
She presently presents a weekday show called “80s on 8 with Nina Blackwood,” which aired in July 2016, as well as a drama series called “Citizens,” which is currently in post-production and will launch in 2017. Looking at her career thus far, it is not incorrect to claim that she is married to her work and has little time for her family, as Nina has not taken a break and has done back-to-back programs for over a decade.
Here’s a video clip from 1985, when Nina was hosting the show.
Nina’s personal and professional lives are intertwined:
Nina, like every other celebrity, chooses to keep her personal life out of the public eye and gossip columns. OFF-CAMERA SHE’S A BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, “J.J. Jackson, a fellow jock, says of Nina Blackwood. “But she was stunning on camera. ‘How the hell does she do that?!’ Mark Goodman and I used to exclaim.” Of course, the model and actress from Massachusetts was more than just a pretty face. Nina also spoke openly about her experience, saying,
“It was an incomparable experience,”We had the world in our hands.”
She and the network parted ways amicably in 1986, and Blackwood went on to work on “Entertainment Tonight” and “Solid Gold.” She now commutes between her home in Tarzana, California, and Denver, Colorado, where she works as an FM DJ.
Divorce, Husband, and Married Life!
After divorcing her spouse in 1991 after a four-year marriage, Blackwood picked a lesbian partner and is now dating stage actor Kelly Vincent, according to the story.
She also included her name in the book’s acknowledgment section, saying:
“Kelly Vincent, for making my life meaningful, I love you eternally.”
Nina’s comment reveals her feelings toward Kelly. We can’t deny that they see each other, even if they haven’t made it official based on their words.
Nina Blackwood’s net worth is now believed to be $500 thousand dollars. She is best recognized as one of the original five MTV VJs. She is a well-known VJ, DJ, model, and actor who has been in numerous films and television shows. She has created a reputation for herself in the entertainment sector, and her net worth stems from her radio hosting, TV shows, book publication, and performing.
