Selena Quintanilla, Chris Pérez’s first wife
From April 2, 1992, to March 1995, Chris Pérez was married to Spanish singer Selena Quintanilla.
Pérez first met Selena in 1989, when he was hired as the new guitarist for Selena’s band, Selena y Los Dinos. He rapidly became an important member of the band, and he became close to Selena as a result.
The couple began dating for a few years before finally eloping on April 2, 1992. Selena’s parents were initially opposed to their romance, so they had to flee and marry in secret, according to Good Housekeeping.
On March 31, 1995, Pérez’s world was turned upside down when Selena was murdered by her manager Yolanda Saldvar.

In February of this year, she married her long-time boyfriend, Henry Soliz. Since 2012, the couple had been dating. For the time being, Villanueva goes by the name Vanessa Soliz and lives with her husband in Portland, Texas.
