Clifford Smith, better known as Method Man of the Wu-Tang Clan, has kept his wife, Tamika Smith, out of the spotlight for the majority of his career. The MC even kept his wife’s breast cancer diagnosis a secret.
So, when Wendy Williams informed Method Man about Tamika’s condition in 2006, he was furious. He loudly chastised the TV host for discussing his wife’s illness on television.
Wendy Williams was mocked by Method Man
Williams revealed Method Man’s wife was sick on broadcast in 2006, and it was the first time he did so. It was the first time the problem had been discussed in public. Williams was publicly chastised by Method Man, who stated that she had no right to inform the public about Tamika’s illness. He slammed Williams, stating she didn’t have the right to discuss it on the radio, especially when Tamika herself wanted to keep it private.
Wendy Williams deserves credit for bringing that to the public’s attention because she didn’t have to say it on the radio. I want to keep my personal life private, but [my wife] was sick. It’s none of your ******* business. She didn’t want anyone to know about it because it was her business. Right there, I respected her requests. Until Wendy Williams shouted such nonsense, no one knew anything.
He expressed his displeasure with how the story was depicted, describing it as “crazy nasty and insulting” given what his wife was going through. He went on to say that Williams shouldn’t have brought up the sensitive matter, especially since Tamika’s family members were unaware of her illness.
You are free to attack me in any way you see fit. You don’t insult my family man because I work in the entertainment industry. That has nothing to do with my wife… You were under no obligation to do so. Her family was completely unaware that she was ill.
Williams claimed she and Method Man had a one-night stand
Despite the fact that Method Man and Williams’ feud is well-documented, Williams has remained silent on the subject. On January 28, 2021, she stated in an interview with DJ Suss One that she had a one-night stand with Method Man! Maybe he’ll deny it, maybe he won’t. It wasn’t in the film because [he] is still furious with me… for being myself—for saying it like it is.
It’s unclear when the incident occurred, although several reports speculated that it occurred between 2001 and 2006, when Method Man publicly chastised Williams for disclosing Tamika’s illness.
Method and his wife are the proud parents of three children
Tamika, who is now cancer-free, prefers to keep her personal life quiet, and the only time she received high-profile media attention was when her husband attacked Williams. Method Man has also deliberately sheltered her from the media, indicating that he supports her wish to stay out of the spotlight.
That isn’t to say she isn’t experienced in the entertainment world. Initially, the celebrity wife worked as her husband’s personal assistant. They fell in love and got engaged in 1999, and two years later, on March 3, 2001, they married. Sha (born 1996), Raekwon (born 1997), and daughter Cheyenne are the couple’s three children (born 1997).
