Fox News let off 16 employees on January 19, 2021, including American journalist Chris Stirewalt. He began working for the channel as a digital political editor in July 2010.
Senior editors and even employees who had been with the organization for more than a decade were laid off shortly after the 2020 election cycle. Fox News justified its actions by claiming that following the 2020 election cycle, it has adjusted its business and journalistic structure to suit the new trend.
Many fans and even insiders, on the other hand, were not pleased with the rumored “purge.” According to one of the fired staffers, the firing was a “coordinated effort to get rid of true journalists.” “They laid off qualified people who were true journalists and not mindless followers,” the source continued.
Stirewalt’s demise came as he was defending the channel’s foresight in predicting that Biden would win Arizona.
The early calls drew a lot of attention and even enraged Donald Trump. In an op-ed published in the Los Angeles Times on January 28, 2021, Stirewalt justified calling Arizona for Joe Biden. He announced his retirement from the media behemoth by writing:
I wanted to steam downriver as fast as I could to be first with the news to beat the competition and serve my audience. That’s why I was proud of our being first to project that Joe Biden would win Arizona, and very happy to defend that call in the face of a public backlash egged on by former President Trump.
Joined American Enterprise Institute After Fox News Departure
Stirewalt joined the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) as a resident fellow in April 2021, after leaving Fox News after a decade of service.
As a member of the Politics and Public Opinion team, he will focus on American politics, public opinion, voting and political trends, and the media, as his area of specialty is politics. He will also work for The Dispatch as a contributing editor and a weekly writer.
On April 7, 2021, Stirewalt announced his new job via an Instagram post. In the video, he commended the AEI for its varied platform and incredible resources while also revealing that he will be starting his own podcast soon.

As a result, it’s unclear whether the former Fox News host has a wife or is content with his single status. The only question regarding his relationship that has ever come up was whether or not he was married to Dana Perino. But the couple, who starred in over 100 episodes of the show I’ll Tell You What, were not married; they were and are just pals.
Peter McMahon, the Fox News analyst, has been her husband for 20 years.
