Cheaters is a syndicated show that has been watched by millions of people since it first aired in October 2000. The plot of the show is straightforward.
If you believe your partner has been unfaithful in your relationship, you can contact the show through its website. If the show decides to accept your case, they will send out a surveillance team.
Armed with cameras and private detectives, the crew would then follow the accused for days, if not weeks, until they discovered incriminating evidence against the accused party.
Once you have the evidence discovered by the show’s detectives, you will be able to confront the unfaithful partner.
Of course, the entire process would be filmed and broadcast for millions of other viewers to enjoy.
Despite the fact that the show begins with a notice that reads:
You are about to see actual true stories, filmed live from ‘Cheaters’ surveillance cameras, documenting the pain of a spouse or lover caused by infidelity.
The notice went on to say that the coverage was intended to encourage “renewal of temperance and virtue” in the couples watching the show.
Nonetheless, many people have wondered over the years,
Is there a script for cheaters?
Inside Edition’s exclusive report from 2009 revealed that the show Cheaters was heavily scripted.
In fact, many of the alleged partners and cheaters were paid up to $500 to act as if they were cheating on their partners or broke up with them after discovering that their partner was cheating.
Some former case subjects claimed that they didn’t even know who they were acting out scenes with beforehand.
Kerry Wyatt, a former “cheater” caught on the show, told the outlet that she was paid $500 to pretend to be having an affair with a man outside of her engagement when she was 19 years old.
Wyatt stated unequivocally that she had never been involved in real life.
She also stated that she had never met her on-screen fiancé or boyfriend prior to the day they began filming.
Joey Greco was stabbed?
The outlet even brought up one of the show’s most tragic yet memorable moments, when host Joey Greco was stabbed by an enraged partner.
The show had made it appear as if a confrontation had gone bad, and in the ensuing altercation, the show host was stabbed in the stomach.
The showrunners allegedly called 911, and the host was attended to by paramedics, while the person who stabbed him was arrested.
However, when the local authorities were questioned about the incident, they revealed that no such incident occurred on the day that the show’s producers claimed.
Worse, when Cheaters executive producer Bobby Goldstein was asked which hospital the show’s host was taken to after being stabbed, Goldstein was unable to provide an answer.
Even then, the producer insisted that the show was not scripted and that the events were captured live as they happened in real life.
