Broken Hearts! Matthew Carnahan’s “Messy Breakup” with Helen Hunt Details!

Yesterday, a long-time couple, Matthew Carnahan and Helen Hunt, announced their divorce in Hollywood. Helen Hunt, the Twister actress, announced her separation from her longtime writer-producer boyfriend, Matthew Carnahan, on August 16.

Matthew, 56, is in this unpleasant scenario after being with his partner for 16 years and sharing a 13-year-old daughter, Makena’ lei Gordon Carnahan, who was born on May 13, 2004.

Sources told PEOPLE that the pair, who have been together since 2001, had previously split because they had problems getting along for several years.

Another story suggests that the couple has remained together for this long solely because of their daughter.

According to The Daily Mail, an informant confirmed that Helen had been suspicious of her lover for a long time, suspecting that something was amiss with their connection. Matthew, on the other hand, has always insisted on her believing that he has not deceived her.

Previously, the actress began living a low-profile life after she began dating Carnahan and had Makena. She previously discussed this with PEOPLE in 2008, when she revealed how her goals in life altered after having a mother. She stated:

“My family came to life. I had my daughter and chose to spend time with her. It’s the greatest pleasure I’ve ever known.”

Hunt was formerly married to Hank Azaria, an American actor best known for his role in the animated television series The Simpsons. They divorced in 1999, two years after their marriage, after being in a relationship for five years.

Carnahan, noted for his work on Don Cheadle’s House of Lies (2012), Courteney Cox’s Dirt (2007), and Trinity (1998), has a son from a previous relationship, Emmett Carnahan (now twenty years old).

Despite the fact that he hasn’t revealed anything about his previous love life, he still raises his son as a single parent.

As of now, we must wait for more details of their breakup from both Matthew’s and Helen’s perspectives.
