Since 2020, Joseph Paul Torre has served as a special assistant to the Commissioner. He is a well-known American professional baseball executive. He has already served as a player, manager, and television color commentator, and he is currently ranked fifth all-time in Major League Baseball. Torre also played catcher and infielder for the New York Mets, where he was assigned the number 9 position.

He’s also a nine-time All-Star who won the National League’s (NL) Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award in 1971. From 1984 to 1989, he worked as a television color commentator for the California Angels and NBC.
