Alan Shearer is an English football pundit and former striker who played in the Premier League. He is the Premier League’s record goalscorer and is widely regarded as one of the best strikers of his generation and one of the greatest players in the league’s history.

In 1994, Alan Shearer was named Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, and in 1995, he was named PFA Player of the Year. He finished third in both the Ballon d’Or and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards in 1996. Pelé appointed him to the FIFA 100 list of the world’s greatest living players in 2004.

Shearer spent his entire football career at the highest level in England. He began his career at Southampton in 1988 before joining Blackburn Rovers in 1992, where he became one of Europe’s most prolific goal scorers.

He won the 1994–95 Premier League with Blackburn Rovers, as well as two Premier League Golden Boots in a row. In the summer of 1996, he moved to Newcastle United, his hometown club, for a then-world-record fee of £15 million. He led Newcastle to FA Cup finals in 1998 and 1999, and he went on to become the club’s all-time leading scorer.
