On August 24, 2018, Bart Baker posted a parody of 6ix9ine, Murda Beatz, and Nicki Minaj’s song ‘FEFE.’ The video was a continuation of Baker’s well-received parody-making career, which he began in February 2007 on YouTube.
With over 19 million subscribers and billions of views on his parodies, the parody artist had already achieved global reputation at the time. However, following the caricature of ‘FEFE,’ the YouTuber abruptly left the platform, leaving his devoted fans and followers perplexed.
Bart Baker’s Departure from YouTube: Why Did He Do It?
Baker stopped publishing his parodies to YouTube because it was driving him insane. To keep family-friendly advertisers happy, the site began de-prioritizing filthy content, and his parodies’ revenue plummeted.
In the tell-all video, Baker discussed monetization and having his content censored, emphasizing that the trouble was the reason he left YouTube. He also claimed the parodies cost him a lot of money.
Bart Baker: What Happened to Him?
Baker unexpectedly returned to his YouTube account on August 29, 2021, after a three-year break, with an explanation of why he left the site in the first place and what he was doing throughout his sabbatical.
Baker stated at the start of the video that he wanted to give his followers an update on what had happened to him. He raved about how China has always piqued his attention and that he has lived in Shanghai, China, for the past two years. He also added that once he got situated in the new place, he intended to try out Douyin, a Chinese counterpart of TikTok.
As a result, Baker began translating Chinese songs into English and creating material with his musical abilities. Within a month, he had accumulated 10 million followers, much to his astonishment. The comedian stated that he had 25 million followers at the time of filming the video and described the experience as “fun and great.”
During the hiatus, he revealed that he had been performing concerts and watching TV shows on a regular basis.
Bart Baker’s Future Plans
Baker revealed his future plans while discussing his past and why he quit YouTube, claiming that he will return to the United States in September 2021. He remarked that he missed his family and friends and that he couldn’t see them because he couldn’t travel back and forth. Despite his decision, he stated that he would continue to make singing videos for Chinese TikTok and publish parodies to YouTube.
However, the social media sensation stated that he would only make a few films per year and that they would be memorable. The 35-year-old also stated that he didn’t want to monetise the parodies since he wanted to generate material for his fans. He also discussed his recent interest in Bitcoin, adding that he would create films on the subject that were not boring.
Despite the fact that Baker’s subscriber base has shrunk by ten million, there’s no question that once his witty content resurfaces on the internet, the number will begin to rise again.
