They decided to go their separate ways!
Aryn Drake-Lee, a real estate broker, and her husband of nearly five years, actor Jesse Williams, filed for divorce on April 11. The couple has requested that their children have joint legal and physical custody.
The divorce was filed last week and is said to be completely amicable, although the cause for their breakup is still unknown.
The couple married in September of 2012. They had been together for nearly a decade. They also have two children, a son, Maceo, who is one, and a girl, Sadie, who is three.
The couple was last seen together in 2016 at an event at the Art Los Angeles Contemporary. In addition, Aryn has not been seen on her husband’s Instagram profile in the last two years.
Furthermore, when it comes to their romance, the couple initially met in New York almost a decade ago, when the now Grey’s Anatomy star was a school teacher. William taught high school and middle school kids before obtaining a breakout role in 2008’s The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
In 2010, the couple enjoyed a happy relationship, and the 35-year-old actor had a lot of nice things to say about his then-girlfriend, Aryn Drake-Lee. He stated in an interview,
“I was a teacher when I met her, so she’s been with me through all different facets of my career. She’s stuck with me through thick and thick and thick and thin. We know each other in and out.”
The pair co-founded the Ebroji app, which is also a keyboard that focuses on the incorporation of diverse emoji and gifs in texting.
In June 2016, the actor collected the humanitarian award, which made headlines as he thanked his parents for teaching him to “focus on comprehension before work” and thanked his “beautiful wife for altering” his life.
But for the time being, the couple has decided to go their separate ways. And we can only hope for the best for them both.
