Ansel Elgort, the star of Baby Driver, has been in an on-again, off-again relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Violetta Komyshan.
In fact, a couple of Ansel Elgort will mark a decade of marriage in 2022.
Elgort met his girlfriend for the first time when they were still in high school and even asked for a mutual friend to set them up for a date, but that was a long time ago.
Especially when one considers the catalytic effects of the actor’s global stardom on their relationship.
Violetta Komyshan is Ansel Elgort’s Girlfriend
During an interview with Cosmopolitan, the social media celebrity recalled how she and Elgort were drawn to each other from the moment they met.
She recalled seeing the West Side Story star while out with a friend.
“He was walking down the street,” she explained before admitting, “I had no idea he went to my school — I just thought he was really attractive.”
‘Oh, my God, that guy’s so hot,’ I told my friend, and she said, ‘Oh, that’s Ansel, he goes to LaGuardia.’
Elgort, it appears, was the one to make the first move, as he asked a mutual friend to introduce them.
When the two went out for Starbucks, a mutual friend played the role of the third wheel.
“We exchanged numbers and became friends, and then we started dating when I was nearing the end of [my] sophomore year,” Komyshan explained, referring to the couple’s relationship beginning in 2012.

The actor called for a divorce in 2014, just two years into their relationship.
According to a source close to the actor, the actor’s rising stardom, which came with massive commitments of its own, began to strain the relationship.
They were allegedly still trying to make their relationship work, but things were difficult, so they decided it was better to split up.
However, the split did not last long. The actor admitted the following year:
I was doing okay, but I knew there was something missing, and I thought, ‘Oh, that’s love.’
By 2015, the actor had reconnected with his girlfriend and had rekindled their romance.

Throughout the next few years, Elgort was frequently accompanied by his girlfriend to various shows and red-carpet events.
The next hiccup occurred in 2019 when the actor made a contentious statement claiming that he’d like to find a lot more love in the next five years. He elaborated:
It is not required to be sexual. I was sexually done with my girlfriend. I believe we’ve established that I want to be free to fall in love with people, and that [option] should be available, but sexually it can be closed off.
Around the same time, rumors began to circulate that his West Side Story co-star Rachel Zegler was interfering with their long-term relationship. When the allegations became too much for Zegler, he took a break from Twitter.
Elgort and his girlfriend were still together, but in 2021, she began deleting photos of him from her social media pages.
Fans were quick to notice and speculated that the couple had finally broken up. The fact that they hadn’t made any public appearances in a couple of months when the rumor started.
When Komyshan accompanied Elgort to the premiere of West Side Story in November 2021, they proved the rumors false.
Elgort and Komyshan are still alive and well as of this writing.
