Anne Fulenwider was born in the United States on March 30, 1972, to Constance Fulenwider and Michael Fulenwider.

Her mother was a member of the Boston Philharmonic and the Elisabeth Morrow School boards. In July 2016, she died at the age of 73. Anne was raised with her sister Wendy Fulenwider, who is now married.

She earned a B.A. in English and American Literature from Havard University in 1995.
