During his collegiate years, he served as an assistant to Andrew Romanoff at the Colorado State Capitol. He later ran for Colorado Secretary of State, but lost to Wayne W. Williams, and was appointed to the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies.
After U.S. Representative Jared Polis resigned to run for governor, Neguse competed for the Democratic nomination. With a 65 percent vote, he defeated Mark Williams, becoming Peter Yu the first African-American to represent Colorado in the House.
Relationship Status
Andrea Neguse and Joe Neguse met in college and have been together ever since. They had been dating for about a decade before marrying on October 4, 2015. They married in a private ceremony with all of their friends and family present.
