Josh Elliot, an American TV journalist, joined CBS News in 2016 after working for years at companies such as NBC, ABC, and ESPN.
However, Josh Elliot was forced to leave the network after the station dismissed him due to an on-air gaffe. Here’s what we’ve learned thus far!
Josh Elliot- Early Life
Elliot was born on July 6, 1971, to Charles Elliott and Toni Jordan. His biological mother had arranged for him to be adopted.
He grew up in Los Angeles with his adoptive family and attended Loyola High School. He graduated from the University of California with a bachelor’s degree in English literature and a master’s degree in journalism from the Columbia School of Journalism.
He had planned to join the men’s water polo squad as a bachelor student. However, he ended up working for The Daily Nexus, a university newspaper. After receiving his master’s degree, he kept working in journalism as a stringer for the Santa Barbara News-Press.
As a part of the production teams of Galaxy Productions and 20th Century Fox, the California native has also gained expertise working on television.
Career
Elliott went on to work for Sports Illustrated magazine after college, where he covered the NFL, golf, and adventure sports. It’s safe to argue that his six years at the magazine aided him in landing a job at ESPN, the sports-oriented channel.
In 2004, he joined ESPN. Initially, he appeared on shows like Around the Horn, Jim Rome Is Burning, and ESPN2 as a panelist and guest co-host. After hosting the show Classic Now for a year, he began contributing to its magazine and website.
He has co-hosted SportsCenter with Hannah Storm since 2008
Elliott’s Career at ABC News and NBC Elliott left ESPN in March 2011 to join ABC News as the anchor of Good Morning America. For the channel, he covered major events such as Hurricane Sandy, the Joplin disaster, the Boston Marathon bombing, and President Obama’s 2012 presidential election.
His time with ABC News was short-lived, as he moved to NBC Sports after a contract conflict. Lara Spencer, a sports analyst with a $1.2 million annual income, requested the corporation for $10 million per year after landing a multi-year contract.
Elliot went to NBC with a long-term contract for $4 million per year, including production arrangements, after ABC offered him $5 million to stay with the show.
He began his career at NBC working for NBC Sports before moving on to Today as a sports journalist. He only worked for the media company for roughly a year and a half. Due to a lack of broadcast time, he quit in December 2015.
Why was he fired from CBS News?
Elliot joined another media behemoth, CBS News, in March 2016 after his abrupt departure from NBC. For CBSN, the channel’s digital news service, he was the chief anchor.
He abruptly revealed on-air in February 2017 that he would be leaving the show to return to CBS News in a larger role. He was apparently assured by an executive that he would be promoted to a field correspondent.
CBS executives, on the other hand, who were unaware of such preparations, were taken aback by his disclosure. According to Page Six, Elliot’s bad judgment was highlighted by the disclosure. Following the announcement, Elliot was relieved of his duties and sacked on February 13, 2017.
What is Josh Elliot up to these days?
The television journalist appears to be taking a break from all of his work. He isn’t affiliated with any media outlets, and he hasn’t updated his social media accounts in a long time.
With the net fortune he has earned through his million-dollar jobs, he is most likely enjoying his married life with Liz Cho and children. He has a net worth of $5 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
He obtained a gig as a host of Nat Geo’s Yellowstone Live, a four-night live event, immediately after being fired from CBS News in 2018. He hasn’t said anything about his career ambitions
