Tyra Banks is the first black model to be on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s coveted Swimsuit Issue.
In 2019, the former supermodel returned to the magazine’s cover for the first time in 23 years. Tyra is a role model for women worldwide as an entrepreneur who built an empire outside of the workplace.
Tyra Banks’ Personal Life
Tyra led an eventful dating life. Her name became associated with a number of prominent figures in Hollywood. While not all of the connections were proven, Tyra’s relationship with director John Singleton was the buzz of Hollywood. However, the model-director relationship could not last.
Tyra’s unsuccessful romances include a big name, basketball player Chris Webber. Between 2002 and 2004, the duo was together.
In 2013, she met and fell in love with Erik Asla. Tyra’s friendship with her photographer’s beau was wonderful.
They were a partner in both their personal and business lives. The couple collaborated on Tyra’s successful show America’s Next Top Model.
Blissful Infant
Tyra’s lifelong dream of having her own children came to a halt when she was diagnosed with infertility. She had undergone the arduous IVF procedure at the age of 40, but the failure proved distressing for her. As a result, she chose another route to motherhood: surrogacy.
Tyra’s life changed forever on 27th January 2016, when she welcomed her son Banks Asla with fiancé Erik Asla. The happy couple was overjoyed at the prospect of adding a new member to their family.
While Erik has two children from a previous relationship, it was extra special for Tyra because it was her first time becoming a mother. In September 2016, she gushed to a US publication about her daughter.
Tyra continued by revealing that her young son was the polar opposite of herself as a child. Unlike Tyra, her son thrived on social interaction and was constantly requesting to sit on other people’s laps, whereas she preferred to sit with her mother and cry at the sight of strangers.
Fans couldn’t stop themselves from speculating on whether the new parents will marry and become husband and wife. Tyra and Erik, on the other hand, divorced in 2017.
The reason for the breakup was a shift in the couple’s dynamics as a result of the new baby. However, the couple resolved to co-parent their son and set aside their disputes.
Tyra Banks’s New Relationship
Tyra appeared to have moved on from her five-year-long failed romance and into another one.
In October 2017, she was photographed at Cake Mix in West Hollywood with an unknown man. The pair had a fantastic time over a well-prepared lunch. However, America’s Got Talent host declined to disclose the identity of her putative new partner.
