The Weaving family relocated from Singapore to Fiji, Indonesia, and back to Australia throughout Smara’s childhood. During that time, she attended elementary school in Jakarta, Indonesia, and later went on to Pittwater House School in Australia.
Samara also spent her childhood learning about numerous cultures through performing in short films, dance shows, and stage acts. She was also a member of the Singapore Dance Company and the Canberra Youth Theatre.
