Her Disney Channel debut in the 2006 Disney Channel original movie Cow Belles, in which she played Courtney Callum and co-starred with her sister, AJ Michalka, catapulted her to popularity.

The Secret Role of Josh Pence in ‘The Social Network’
Pence, Michalka’s lover, had a big role in the 2010 film The Social Network, but few people were aware of it. That’s because he played Tyler Winklevoss, the twin brother of Armie Hammer’s Cameron Winklevoss in the film. The directors reportedly wanted to show the twin brothers with the same look, so they used Hammer’s visage for both characters.
As a result, Pence was cast as the second twin, with director David Fincher putting Hammer’s face on Pence’s body using visual effects. Pence told IndieWire about his experience in October 2020, “It was actually motion capture acting in a manner, that’s nearly how we would characterize it now.”
He continued, “But the question remained, ‘What is this really?’ at the moment. ‘How are we going to define this?’ ‘Oh, you’re the body double,’ the press says. ‘You’re the stand-in for the body double.’ You hear it all the time, and it’s easy to get caught up in your own thoughts about it.”
