David Ross, a former baseball player who later became a manager, was happily married and the father of three children. His relationship with his wife and family, however, deteriorated as a result of his inability to give them time due to his profession, resulting in a divorce.
David Wade Ross, a Major League Baseball (MLB) player-turned-manager, was married and had three children with his wife, Hyla Ross. His bustling professional life, on the other hand, made it difficult for him to spend time with his family. As a result, it caused a schism in his relationships, particularly with his wife, leading to their divorce.
A Not-So-Perfect Marital Relationship
His ex-wife Hyla and he met in high school in Bainbridge, Georgia. They became friends quickly and then developed a sexual relationship based on their friendship. The high school sweethearts exchanged wedding vows on February 1, 2005, after dating each other for a while.
Their union, however, was not without flaws. The former baseball player’s career was the driving force behind it. To the cost of his personal connections, he was always focused on his baseball obligations. After David’s professional baseball career came to an end in 2016, he decided to spend more time with his family and improve their ties.
But that was short-lived as he returned to his duties as a baseball manager and an ESPN role, Dancing with the Stars. As a result, his already-difficult family life got much more complicated. Early in 2020, the couple split, putting the final nail in the coffin.
Their three children’s obligations were transferred to Hyla as part of their divorce settlement, with a provision for David to visit his children on occasion.
Details on the Former High School Sweethearts’ Children
The former baseball player and his ex-wife have three gorgeous children: Cole, a guy, and Landri and Harper, two daughters.
The first and second children were born without issues, but their third child, the Harper, was delivered in an emergency two months before her due date. After the licensed pediatric nurse suffered a partial abruption, the situation occurred (when the placenta separates from the uterus).
The mother and the infant were both in danger. Fortunately, the surgeons were able to perform a C-section successfully and deliver the baby. Harper was detained in the neonatal critical care unit for almost a month after her birth and was eventually freed when she was breathing normally without assistance.
Following that, the five-member family was enjoying their time together. Unfortunately, the long-term couple’s marriage did not survive forever, and they divorced. Despite their split, the two are collaborating to co-parent their children.
The Chicago Cubs’ manager is focusing on his bond with his children following his divorce. And the COVID-19 lockdown provided the ideal chance for him to do so, as he spent the majority of his time with his three children.
Relationship Status
Following his breakup with his high school sweetheart, David has found a new love in actress Torrey DeVitto, who is best known for her role as Dr. Natalie Manning on the NBC series Chicago Med.
Their romance was confirmed when the actress posted a black-and-white pic of herself kissing the Chicago Cubs manager on the cheek on Instagram. DeVitto captioned the photo with a red heart emoji, “Love him fiercely.”
The actress was photographed at a Cubs game in Cincinnati in the first week of May 2021, leading many to believe the two were dating. The pair has not officially revealed how long they have been together.
Torrey, 36, was previously married and divorced, just like her new boyfriend David. She was married to Paul Wesley of The Vampire Diaries for two years, from 2011 to 2013.
