Betty Jean Harris and Redd Foxx’s Relationship
The former couple initially met at the nightclub where Betty used to work, as we previously revealed. She didn’t particularly like Foxx at first, and he wasn’t paying much attention to her either.
Betty once admitted that at first, she didn’t care for Redd.
And even though Redd Foxx always knew he would marry her someday, it took him a whole year to make his proposal. He later said that he fell in love with her at first sight and that he had watched her perform on stage with her sisters ever since he first saw her.
In the middle of the 1950s, Redd Foxx wed Betty Jean Harris. On July 5, 1956, Betty married American stand-up comedian and actor Redd Foxx after a number of years of dating. In the first year, the couple struggled to get used to one another. But as the two were meant to be, they succeeded in making it happen.
The couple’s married life
The star of Sanford and Son always took long trips, but after getting married, he traveled less. He never failed to surprise his girlfriend with gifts. He always shocks you. He once handed me a tree covered in jewelry, including watches, rings, bracelets, and necklaces. Mrs. Foxx thought back.
When the TV show began, the actor even relocated back to Los Angeles so he could spend more time with his wife. Foxx discovered that he couldn’t endure to live apart from his partner’s delectable food.
Betty, Redd Foxx’s ex-wife, gave up her career to be home with the kids.
Redd had a condition when he proposed to his ex-wife that they live out the rest of their days together. Betty consented to Foxx’s request that she give up her singing profession and devote her time to becoming a full-time housewife.
As time went on, Betty, Foxx’s ex-wife, was more than just a housewife. She managed the majority of Redd Foxx Enterprises’ and other businesses’ transactions. Mrs. Foxx was in charge of handling all paperwork, or in other words, she was the boss of the boss.
The Divorce and Betty’s Life after the Divorce
Despite having such a close bond and being one of Hollywood’s ideal couples, their marriage ended in 1975, 18 years into their partnership. In her divorce petition, Betty cited irreconcilable differences.
Redd obtained a restraining order against Betty after the couple’s split, barring her from “removing, hiding, or secreting goods.” She apparently also had to pay her ex-partner $110,000 back. Betty Foxx decided to avoid the spotlight after her divorce from her husband. After their divorce, she didn’t engage in any more relationships, but Redd married two additional women.
From 1976 through 1981, the Sanford and Son actor was married to Joi Yun Chi Chung. Later, in 1991, he wed Kaho Cho once more, and they remained together until his passing. Foxx was wed to Evelyn Killebrew from 1948 to 1951 before Betty.

Harris had a relationship with another man before Mr. Redd Foxx. She had a daughter with her ex-husband, yet she hasn’t exposed his identify to the media. Debraca Denise is the name of Betty’s only child. When her original mother and adopted father got married, she was only 9 years old. Redd Foxx later adopted Denise, who is now known as Debraca Denise Foxx.
