Joan is an outstanding wife, mother, and grandma.

Joan Templeman was born in Glasgow, Scotland’s largest city, in 1948. She grew up with her six siblings and was born to a ship carpenter. Joan was a confident and outgoing child. She had experience in a variety of fields, including nude modeling.

Joan Templeman met Ronnie Leahy, a member of the rock band Nazareth, in Glasgow in 1966. After his first band, Stone The Crows reached the top of the music charts, she became a fan. Joan Templeman Relationship Status

Joan Templeman was first seen by Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group of enterprises, in the kitchen of Virgin Records’ Manor studio, when she was making a cup of tea. Richard was smitten with her right away. His first marriage to Kristen Tomassi was in shambles at the time. Joan was initially unimpressed with Richard since he wore a dreadful suit. Even his multimillionaire position couldn’t help him win the heart of his lady love.

Richard Branson spoke about how he wooed Joan to accept his love proposal in his autobiography, Losing My Virginity. Richard liked to go to the Victorian posters and antique shop near London’s renowned Portobello Road, where Joan worked, to get her attention. He used to buy random stuff in great quantities that he didn’t need only to draw attention to himself. To get closer to Joan, he even tried befriending her acquaintances. To emphasize his strong love for Joan, he even purchased a million-dollar island. Richard gave her a 74-acre luxury property on the Caribbean coast called “Necker Island.” Even that great gesture, however, failed to impress Joan. Joan fell in love with Richard because of his personality and simplicity, not because of his wealth.

Joan left her husband Ronnie in late 1978 to start a new life with Richard.

Joan Templeman Marriage

Richard Branson and Joan Templeman relocated to London’s Little Venice, where they lived in his houseboat. Joan became pregnant with Richard’s child in 1979. Richard, on the other hand, was ‘not sure’ about the news, while Joan was overjoyed. Joan was dissatisfied with Richard and chose to have the child on her own. She was diagnosed with appendicitis in her sixth month of pregnancy, which led to the death of her four-day-old pre-mature daughter, Clare Sarah. Joan and Richard’s bond was enhanced as a result of the experience.

Joan Templeman gave birth to Holly Branson, their daughter, in 1982. Joan and Richard’s relationship was given a fresh lease on life when she was born. Their son, Sam Branson, was born three years later, completing their family. Richard finally proposed to Joan after twelve years of dating. Holly, on the other hand, was instrumental in getting her father to enter the marital tie that her mother had been longing for. On December 20, 1989, the pair married in a lavish ceremony on Necker Island.

Joan Templeman Life After Marriage

In their nearly four decades of marriage, Joan Templeman and Richard Branson have gone a long way. Joan, according to Richard, is the reason for his success as a businessman and a family man. She has been a patient and understanding wife who has never placed a premium on Richard’s public image. Richard’s flirty demeanor has no effect on her. In fact, she dismisses it as ‘typical Richard’ behavior.

Joan was instrumental in persuading Richard to renovate the huge Necker Island estate that burned to the ground a few years ago.

Richard, too, is quite acceptable, and Joan’s previous job as a nudist model has had no impact on their relationship. A leading tabloid called Richard a few years after they began dating, asking for his permission to publish Joan’s nude photos from her modeling days. Rather than becoming enraged with the publishers, Richard requested a separate batch of copies for himself! Joan looked stunning in those photographs, and he wished he could retain them.

Joan is a very private person, unlike Richard. She enjoys reading and babysitting her grandkids, Holly’s twins, Etta and Artie, and Sam’s daughter, Eva-Deia, during their family trips.
