Dennis Schroder, one of Europe’s most gifted basketball players, has established himself as a game-winner in the NBA.
After a rollercoaster ride of highs and lows, the German native is now a key member of the Los Angeles Lakers.
However, the game has provided him with much more than a career. The athlete has also witnessed numerous happy occasions, including the birth of his child and his marriage to the mother of his child.
Relationship Status: Wife
Dennis Schroder, formerly Ellen Ziolo, is happily married to Ellen Schroder.
The NBA star met Ellen for the first time in 2018 and instantly fell in love with her. The couple met in August 2018 and did not take long to realize they were meant to be together.
Another reason to believe Dennis and Ellen were destined to be together is their son. Dennis Malick Schroder Jr. was born to the couple on 19th February 2019. Dennis Jr. was born five months before their wedding, and his birth provided Dennis and Ellen with yet another reason to strengthen their already strong bond.
The couple later married at Richmond Castle in Braunschweig, Germany, in July 2019. The ceremony was attended by their family and friends.
Dennis and Ellen initially intended to have a small wedding, but this proved impossible due to Dennis’ African heritage. The nuptial ceremony, which was originally intended for 50 guests, drew a crowd of more than 350.
On 3 August 2020, the family of three welcomed a new member. Dennis and his wife welcomed a baby girl named Imalia Aaliyah into their family. Ellen Ziolo announced the good news via Instagram.
The family is now content with its lot in life. There are no unfavorable rumors about the marriage, and we hope that remains the case for an extended period of time.
Family And Origins
Dennis Schroder was born on 15 September 1993 in Braunschweig, Germany. He was raised by his parents, Axel and Fatou Schroder. He has two step-siblings that are older.
Axel first met Fatou while on vacation in Banjul, Gambia. Their relationship blossomed from the moment they met.
Not long after Fatou met Axel in Germany, Axel urged her and her two children – Awa and Che – to go to Braunschweig. She agreed, and the couple married.
Dennis’s upbringing in Germany as a black Muslim was not easy. He attended school, where he was one of only two African-American students. He, together with his older sister and brother – Awa and Che – were subjected to numerous forms of discrimination as children.
Nonetheless, discrimination did not prevent him from doing what he desired – playing basketball. Dennis became intensely focused on basketball following his father’s death. He even forewent his time at the skatepark in favor of a rigorous schedule that included school and basketball.
College And Profession
Dennis began his basketball career in his native nation. He began his professional career with the SG Braunschweig, the German basketball franchise Phantoms Braunschweig’s developing team.
Dennis, however, decided to advance his career after three seasons with the Phantoms from 2010 to 2013. As a result, he entered the 2013 NBA Draft and was chosen by the Atlanta Hawks.
Dennis played five years with the Hawks, establishing himself as a valuable member of the club. He did, however, continue on to play for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2018. He is currently a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Dennis has also played for the German National Basketball Team in addition to his club career.
His Parents: Success Pillars
Axel and Fatou Schroder have shaped Dennis into the player he is today in one way or another.
His father, Axel, was instrumental in convincing him to pursue a career in basketball. Dennis discovered a letter written by Axel a few weeks after he died. It was a reminder of the discussion they had about the potential benefits of a basketball career for him and the Schroder family as a whole. Soon after, Dennis set out to live up to his father’s expectations of him.
Then his mother, Fatou Schroder, came along and urged him to stand out and test the boundaries. She desired for her children, particularly Dennis, to excel above and beyond achievement as a result of the hurdles they faced as members of their ethnic group.
Hairstyles That Are Unique
Dennis has one of the NBA’s most distinctive hairstyles. Additionally, the hairdo has an intriguing backstory. Dennis’s mother requested that he acquire a distinctive hairstyle. Fatou, who is also a hairdresser, got Dennis to get his full head of hair-dyed blonde.
He consented to color a little piece above his left temple but not his entire head. To this day, the patch remains his defining look. Fatou requested that he do so in order to distinguish himself from the throng in light of the racially charged society in which he would grow up.
