She was reared in Orlando, Florida, by her father, Dr. John Deaton, and mother, Vu Deaton. John Deaton is of British ancestry, while Vu Deaton is of Vietnamese ancestry. Lara Deaton is her older sister.

Sierra began dancing at the tender age of two. She had studied hip hop, jazz, ballet, modern dance, and tap, among other disciplines. To give you an idea of her dance abilities, she has won three worldwide titles in Irish dancing over the course of eleven years of competition.
