Queen Latifah, born Dana Elaine Owens, received her initial taste of fame as a Hip-Hop artist, but it is her acting abilities in films such as Chicago, Living Single with John Jeaton, and most recently Girls Trip that has established her as a household figure in the United States.
Although she has never shied away from speaking out for the rights of the LGBTQ community, the one-time Grammy winner is reluctant to address her sexual orientation, despite the fact that the general public believes she is a lesbian.
And with the recent announcement that her future wife, Eboni Nichols, is expecting a child, everything is laid naked for the U.N.I.T.Y. diva.
Long-term girlfriend/wife-to-be who is expecting a child
She may have realized the necessity of having a family after her mother passed away from heart illness in March of this year.
Whatever the case, the New Jersey native appeared to be enjoying herself in the company of her lesbian companion when she was photographed by paparazzi towards the end of October 2018. Additionally, Eboni, who will be married to Queen Latifah in the near future, flashed an engagement ring in addition to her growing baby bulge.
It was only a few months ago that the daytime talk show host expressed her desire to start a family of her own. In an interview, she made the following remark:
“I’m a little bit of a procrastinator. I had some things to deal with. I had to get a lot of partying out of my system early in life for about 40 years. You know what I’m saying. I’m good now. I think I’m ready.”
Fortunately for Queen Latifah, she has discovered a true gem in the form of her Hollywood photographer fiance, who is now expecting “their child.”
Despite this, the couple’s relationship hasn’t always been “rainbows and unicorns,” as the saying goes. According to the gossip website RadarOnline, the couple – who had been dating since 2013 – had decided to call it quits in March of 2015.
In barely three months after being spotted enjoying helicopter sightseeing and going on sushi dates while on vacation in Brazil, the news of Queen Latifah and her then-girlfriend Eboni’s separation broke the internet.
In the eight years prior to his relationship with Eboni, the Wrath Of My Madness writer was in a relationship with fitness model Jeannette Jenkins. Since their breakup, Jeanette, her ex-girlfriend, has returned to the world of man-on-man relationships.
It’s interesting to note that Queen Latifah has had previous experience dating guys; her relationship with her ex-boyfriend Sean Moon was brief, but not without controversy. After being involved in a fight with two youths who attempted to steal Queen Latifah’s BMW, the latter incurred serious injuries.
“I don’t consider being gay or lesbian to be a flaw in my character,” says Queen Latifah.
Taking a look back at Queen Latifah’s dating history, the following issue arises: Is Queen Latifah bisexual, straight, or a lesbian?
In an interview with The New York Times published in 2008, the Bringing Down the House actress appeared combative in her response to the same topic. She expressed herself as follows:
“I don’t have a problem discussing the topic of somebody being gay, but I do have a problem discussing my personal life,”
The actress sat down with Uptown Magazine almost seven years after her New York Times interview, in which she spoke candidly about a variety of themes including the difficulties experienced by black LGBT women in show business and anti-gay marriage legislation. The 48-year-old expressed himself as follows:
“Who you choose to marry is really up to you and it’s not something you should be judged on. I don’t find being gay or lesbian to be a character flaw.”
Queen Latifah, on the other hand, reaffirmed her former remarks by asserting that she does not fall into the stereotype of the “black homosexual lady” that is widely held.
