A WWE wrestler and a Harvard Law School graduate!
That is an odd combo for a resume. David Otunga, on the other hand, is a one-of-a-kind man with a killer physique as well as intelligence. He worked in a law company for a period after finishing his schooling at the elite Ivy League school.
Columbia University hired him as a lab manager for a neuroscience institute, and things were looking up for him. But his heart wasn’t in it to be a lawyer or a scientist. He aspired to be a wrestler and an actor instead.
As a result, he abandoned everything to pursue his aspirations and make a name for himself in the entertainment industry.
Relationship Status
In 2007, the David Otunga began dating Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson. David proposed to his fiancée on September 15, 2008, after they had been together for a year.
On August 10, 2009, little than a year after their engagement, the couple welcomed their son David Daniel Otunga. Despite this, the couple was not in a hurry to marry.
The pair acknowledged in several interviews that they never planned a wedding. Fans were sure that the couple simply enjoyed being engaged and that their lives were fine as they were.
But the critics mocked Jennifer’s purported weight loss post-pregnancy and even referred to her fiance as gay.
When the couple announced their breakup in 2017, both haters and fans were taken aback.
The divorce was far from cordial; rather, it was a fiery affair. Elgin native accused his singer girlfriend of having a relationship with her music producer, and Jennifer accused him of threatening actions and an aggressive attitude in response.
The authorities investigated her claims but found David not guilty. However, when both exes demanded sole custody of their son, tensions between them erupted.
David and Jennifer struck a deal in July 2019 after a year-and-a-half judicial struggle that began in mid-2017. Fans will not learn the court’s ruling, though, because the pair signed a gag order in 2017. The agreement forbids them from discussing the child support and custody agreement in public.
While neither David nor Jennifer spoke during the hearing, David’s attorney did mention that Jennifer had filed a meritless Petition for an Order of Protection in 2017. It would give her an undue edge in the custody determination.
Net Worth

Because of his developing wrestling career, David Otunga was spotted and cast in Halle Berry’s 2013 film The Call. In 2019, he starred in the comedic film A Madea Family Funeral.
The WWE Tag Team Champion retired and continues to appear in the ring as a commentator for SmackDown Live and Raw. He has a net worth of $10 million as a result of his acting and wrestling careers.
