Jean-Paul Belmondo was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, a Paris suburb, on April 9, 1933. Paul Belmondo, Belmondo’s father, was a Pied-Noir sculptor who was born in Algeria to Sicilian and Piedmontese parents. His mother, Sarah Rainaud-Richard, was a painter. He was more interested in sports than in school when he was a kid, with a particular fondness for boxing and soccer.
