Chris Bassett, a personal and private chef most known for his appearance on the Real Housewives of Potomac, is married to Candiace Dillard, a reality TV star.
Since their marriage in August 2018, the couple has also been acting as parents to Chris Bassett three children [from his previous two relationships].
Mateo and Naia, two of the three kids, made their RHOP on-screen debut earlier this year on July 11 during the first episode of the reality show’s sixth season, ‘The Nude Interlude.’
Bassett discussed his children’s reactions to being in front of the camera with Distractify the same month, and how he was “definitely” apprehensive to have his children participate on the Bravo show at first.
“I’m not sure I ever wanted the kids on,” he admitted to the publication. “They’ve been requested by the network since Day One.” That’s what they’re paid to do; they want to put on a good show.”
The Pandemic Assisted the Children in Making Their Debut
Bassett and his wife refused to allow their children to appear on the show for a long time, citing a variety of reasons, including their hectic school schedules.
However, when their children were stranded at home and forced to attend virtual school due to the COVID-19 pandemic, parents couldn’t refuse the opportunity to assist their children in making their on-screen debut. Bassett, on the other hand, stipulated that his two children, Mateo and Naia, might appear on RHOP if they were “comfortable” in front of the cameras.
On-Screen, Chris Bassett’s Kids Were Natural
Bassett’s daughter Naia was “very excited” about the occasion after it was revealed that his children would be making their debut, while his son Mateo was a little hesitant.
“When the cameras first appeared, my daughter went very still. “She didn’t know what to do, and my son just went right in,” the celebrity chef said in a recent interview, adding that his children were naturals on the set of RHOP. “He [Mateo] couldn’t wait for them to return,” says the narrator.
The Busy Lives of Chris Bassett and Candiace Dillard
The married couple were busy with their different jobs while filming the reality show when the kids made their debut. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Bassett sold his restaurant and moved his focus to curated live-cooking and cocktail recipe lessons through HUNGRY Virtual Xperiences. Additionally, he was Candiace’s “husbanger” [husband/manager].
While pursuing her singing and acting career, Dillard enrolled in an Executive MBA program at Howard University. In the meantime, the couple was in the process of purchasing a home together.
The Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium hosted their wedding
Bassett and Dillard exchanged wedding vows in front of 260 guests on a gorgeous Saturday in Washington, D.C. The wedding, which had a “cosmopolitan sophistication with a touch of southern class” theme, took place at the Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in August 2018.
Dillard wore a Karen Sabag custom-made gown, while Bassett donned a white tuxedo with a floral motif.
While it was the RHOP diva’s first marriage, her lover had three children from his two prior marriages. They met while working at the same restaurant in D.C., where he was the manager and she was a server, according to reports.
