John Henton has his own terrible story to share, since he was hurt and damaged in an automobile accident in September 2000.
John Henton is a well-known comedian who is well-known for his comic timing. Did you realize, though, that he has his own terrifying tale to tell? In September of 2000, Henton was involved in an automobile accident that nearly killed him.
A Near-Death Automobile Accident Was A “Wake-Up Call”
Henton, who played Milsap Morris in The Hughleys, was in a car accident that fractured both of his legs, knocked out his left eye socket, broke nine teeth, ripped off his stomach, and shattered his left eye socket.
The incident occurred on September 15, 2000, while he was heading home from a Halloween celebration party for the series in Los Angeles. Henton collided with another vehicle, slammed through a chain-link fence, and smashed into a concrete wall. Despite the fact that he was not killed in the tragedy, the comedian was left scarred and saw it as a wake-up call.
Henton, who was inebriated and driving at least 100 mph at the time of the crash, has no recollection of the ordeal. The party was the last thing he remembers seeing. It was his first summer, and he drank a little too much. Not only that, but Henton declined to take a limo driver’s offer of a ride home and instead climbed into his Acura NSX.
I can’t endorse a mini-coma because you have to go through a lot of stuff to end up in one. But I’m feeling incredibly revitalized.
Facial Reconstruction by John Henton
Henton’s lone nice deed was to fasten his seat belt, which most likely saved his life. The comedian’s face was so badly injured after the accident, thanks to a fractured left eye socket and broken teeth, that his plastic surgeon had to reconstruct his face using images from before the tragedy.
Wendy Zocks, Hendy’s former publicist, had to dash back to his house to grab his photos for the surgeons who would reconstruct his deformed face. Fortunately, the procedure went well, and physicians were able to restore his face.
“It’s a blessing that they were able to bring us together.”
Henton had to make amends for his awful error of driving while inebriated by taking a “Mothers Against Drunk Driving” class and doing 30 days of community service in California.
A true warrior never surrenders.
Fortunately, the actor recovered quickly. He was ready to face the cameras on the set of The Hughleys just six weeks later. The camera angles were set up in such a way that the casting on his legs was hidden. This demonstrates Henton’s unwavering commitment to his trade.
Following the accident, he appeared in a number of television shows, including One On One, The Parkers, Hannah Montana, and Love That Girl.
