Blake Austin Griffin, better known as Blake Griffin, is an NBA basketball player who currently plays for the Brooklyn Nets of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
He has been a six-time NBA All-Star and five-time All-NBA pick after being drafted by the Los Angeles Clippers in the 2009 NBA draft. Blake also played for the Detroit Pistons from January 2018 to March 2021, in addition to the Clippers and Nets. He is also distinguished from other players on the pitch by his thick skin, which apparently prevents him from melting down under pressure and allows him to perform to his full potential. Blake’s family, which includes his parents and older brother, Taylor Griffin, deserves credit for his rugged physique.
NBA Stats: Blake Griffin
Blake has some incredible career stats as one of the most accomplished NBA players today. Blake, for example, went from winning four high school state titles at Oklahoma Christian School to being named an All-Star in his NBA debut season.
In addition, in 2009, he was voted National College Player of the Year, and in 2011, he won the NBA Slam Dunk Contest and was crowned NBA Rookie of the Year.
He was signed by the Brooklyn Nets on March 8, 2021, and made his debut on March 21. In a 113–106 win over the Washington Wizards, he had two points, two rebounds, and a block in 15 minutes of play.
Blake Griffin’s Brother Taylor Roughned Him Up
Blake’s brother, Taylor, had an important role in instilling a strong work ethic in his system, just as his parents did.
The 6’9″ star recounted his driveway basketball games with his older brother, who played for Pallacanestro Trapani of the Italian Serie A2, in an interview with Dallas News. He claimed that those matches frequently ended in a brawl.
“We had some major battles,” Blake recalls, “and they always ended in a fight.” “It didn’t matter a single time. Normally, rather than a fist fight, they yell at one other and hurl the ball at each other.”
As a result, he despised losing to his brother and always played with a desire to win at any cost. But Blake’s drive soon turned into gasoline, and he learned to never give up.
Blake Griffin received his training from his father
Tommy Griffin, Blake’s father, was an Afro-Haitian basketball center and track star at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. With nine state championship wins as a head coach, he is one of Oklahoma’s most successful high school basketball coaches.
As a result, Tommy coached Blake, drawing on his experiences as a high school athlete at Oklahoma Christian School in Oklahoma City. What’s the end result? Blake developed into one of the most sought-after recruits at OCS, where he was selected as a McDonald’s All-American after averaging 26.8 points and 15.1 rebounds as a senior.
“Every day in practice, the first 45 minutes would be basics,” the 32-year-old said, praising his father’s accomplishments. “It was quite beneficial to me.”
Gail Griffin, his white mother, is also credited with helping him keep fit because she has always been a health and nutrition advocate.
Blake mentioned that his mother home-schooled him until he was in seventh grade
“She has also ingrained in me a lot of morals. She has essentially taken care of everything for us.”
