Sean Lock is making headlines again, nearly a year after his death.
What’s the reason? The team behind 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown aired Lock’s final episode before his death.
The episode ended with a tribute to the comedian, with a pre-credits message that read, “In loving memory of comedy legend Sean Lock, 1963 – 2021.”
Following the incident, many fans became emotional, while others were found discussing Lock’s weight loss — just before he died.
Fans claimed that the famed comedian’s poor health was obvious because he had lost visible weight in recent years.
Sean Lock’s Illness and Weight Loss Are Being Discussed by Fans
First and foremost, Lock was diagnosed with lung cancer many years ago, but he chose not to reveal it in public and fought it in secret.
He continued to work, most notably as a regular on the British comedy panel show 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. Along with fellow comedian Jon Richardson, he was one of the two regular team captains.
So, a few months after Lock’s death, a YouTube user uploaded a video to the platform that included a compilation of Lock’s final appearances on 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
Fans praised the late comedian’s dedication to his work and sense of responsibility to entertain his audience despite his obvious illness in the comments section.

Another person stated, “There’s a man who is clearly ill and can’t be feeling well, but he never stops making other people laugh and bringing joy to the world. He can teach us all a thing or two.”
Similarly, when the fan was unaware of his cancer, he remembered watching those episodes before his death. At the time, the fan stated that he appeared skinny and frail, and they now understand why.
Weight Loss and an Unknown Cancer Battle
Lock’s fans, like the latter, were completely unaware of the comedian’s secret cancer battle.
However, his weight loss hinted at his poor health, causing fans to worry about him for a long time.
Before his weight loss and cancer battle, he was a very charismatic comedian who frequently wore his smile and his rectangular black-framed glasses.
Lock, with his amusing expressions and stage movements, was also very energetic on stage.
But the sad news had to come out eventually, and when it did, it broke many hearts.
Bill Bailey, a fellow comic, was among the first to inform the world of his death and cancer in August 2021.
During an interview, he stated that Lock continued to work despite his illness, which enabled him to leave his family a fortune worth more than $4 million.
