When he was just 13 years old, Yani Gellman made his acting debut in a few episodes of the 1998 horror television series Goosebumps. He played Brad in an episode of the TV show Animorphs that same year.
His big-screen debut, however, didn’t occur until 2000, when he was chosen to play Ron in the film Urban Legends: Final Cut. In the same year, he also starred as Mederic in the television movie Children of My Heart.
Following that, Yani started to land a variety of big-screen parts, such as Romeo in Sex, Lies, & Obsession (2001) and Young Paul Castellano in Bosses (2001). His breakthrough roles came in 2002 when he was cast as Michael Medina in Guinevere Jones, a recurring character, and in 2003 when he played Paolo in The Lizzie McGuire Movie.
