The previous record belonged to Feliks Zemdegs of Australia, who decreased it nine times in seven years, from 9.21 seconds on January 30, 2010, to 6.45 seconds.
Up until Ruihang Xu broke it on June 5, 2021, Park was the only cuber besides Feliks Zemdegs to hold the record since September 27, 2009. Additionally, he has broken multiple world records for solving the 4x4x4, 5x5x5, 6x6x6, 7x7x7, and 3x3x3 cubes with one hand. In a variety of Rubik’s cube tournaments, he has won 297 events.
