American journalist, Yunji de Nies has spent over two decades working in numerous news stations across the nation in different roles. She is one of the known figures in the broadcast profession in the USA.

She completed schooling and high school on Oahu and the Big Island. Then she attended Yale University in 1997 and graduated with honors with a degree in Political Science and Government in 2001. She completed her master’s degree in Journalism from the University of California’s Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

Yunji de Nies is married to Kent Walther. The couple is blessed with two children. On August 19, 2016, they gave birth to a girl they called Kaya Jiyun Walther. Kenzo Mori Walther, their son, and second child was born on November 30, 2018.
In May 2013, Yunji and Kent went on their first blind date. On June 28, 2014, after a year of dating, the couple became husband and wife.
Career
Yunji de Nies started her journalism career while still a college student by working on the radio. She next worked as a Nightline intern for ABC News.
Then, beginning in May 2002, she worked for ABC News’ World News Weekend in New York City for five months as a desk assistant.
After that, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked as a Special Projects Producer for WAGA/FOX5 News from August 2003 to May 2004. There, she created news specials for the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock newscasts. She previously worked as a freelance reporter and producer for CNN in Atlanta from June 2003 until December 2004.
She then worked as a reporter for WGNO/ABC26 News in New Orleans, Louisiana, from June 2004 until July 2006, where she provided daily live reporting for the 5, 6, and 10 o’clock newscasts. She also covered the aftermath of hurricanes Rita and Katrina.
In July 2007, she began working for ABC News as a correspondent for NewsOne, a company that offers live and packaged news stories to more than 200 affiliates and clients in the US and abroad. She is recognized for covering the funeral of President Gerald Ford, the execution of Saddam Hussein, the bombings that killed 200 people in the UK, and the terrible tornadoes in Lady Lake, Florida while she was there.
After NewsOne, she covered the Obama and Bush administrations as a White House Correspondent in Washington, D.C. After that, she worked for ABC as a correspondent for all of the ABC News channels, including Good Morning America, World News, Nightline, ABC News Radio, and abcnews.com.
She then began working there in September 2012 and reported for KITV for five years until March 2017, when she began working for the Honolulu Star-Advertiser Digital Billboard Network.
