His lower career started with Dwarf AAA hockey with the Quebec Dwarf Association’s Ste. Eustache Vikings. He was selected by the Holy Saint John Ocean Canines in the first round, or eighteenth overall, of the 2009 Quebec Significant Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) Dwarf draft. For the 2009–10 QMJHL season, he led all 16-year-old scorers in the league. He was also considered a top prospect for the 2011 NHL Section Draft at the start of the 2010–11 QMJHL season. He contributed 62 assists and 43 goals over the course of 67 games with the Ocean Canines.
He scored a goal against the Nashville Hunters on September 20, 2011, while playing for the Florida Pumas in their second NHL preseason game.
