Ricardo Rodriguez began his professional career in 2001 when he enrolled in the FC Schwamendingen youth academy. After a year, he quit the academy and, in 2002, he joined FC Zürich’s youth team. Ricardo spent eight years playing at different age groups before making his first-team debut on March 21, 2010. He stayed with the squad until the 2011–12 season was over, participating in 35 games and scoring two goals.
