Marilyn C. Bodogh was born in Toronto, Canada, on March 9, 1955. Catherine and Frank Bodogh are her parents. Marilyn was only nine years old when her family relocated to St. Catharines.
She grew up in a large family with many siblings. The athlete is especially close to her sister Christine Bodogh, with whom she shares a passion for curling sports.

“My father did not coach us, but he did observe us. He only told us to be the same when we won and when we lost.”

Bodogh and her sister began playing curling at a young age. Marilyn has had many accomplishments throughout her long career.
Marilyn represented Ontario in the Canadian Ladies Curling Championship and the Tournament of Hearts in 1980. She returned to the ‘Tournament of Hearts’ as a skip in 1986 and won the competition.
The following year, she defeated Andrea Schopp of Germany in the World Curling Championship, ensuring her team’s victory.
She won the World Curling Championship when she was 36 years old.
Marilyn returned to the ‘Tournaments of Hearts’ in 1987, but they were unable to maintain the same momentum. Marilyn experienced the same results the following year. After failing to win for the past two years,
After a few years, Marilyn returned to the Hearts tournament at the age of 41, defeating Cheryl Kullman of Alberta in the finals.
Aside from that, Marilyn won her second World Championship finals match against Lisa Schoeneberg of the United States. She represented her country, Team Canada.
She also competed for the Ontario team in the Scotties Tournament of Hearts in 1997. She did not, however, win the tournament.
Nonetheless, she has four gold medals and one bronze medal in the team category.
Marilyn went on to work as a commentator for Rogers Sportsnet and Rogers TV after her curling career ended. In addition, she has worked as a journalist.
