Michael was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to Michael Jerome Williams and Denise Oher, and grew up with 12 siblings.

Micheal was placed in foster care when he was seven years old. In 2003, he enrolled at Briarcrest Christian School and joined the school football team. According to some sources, Michael was not immediately admitted to Briarcrest and was instructed to attend home school to improve his grades.

College Life
Despite scholarship offers from Tennessee, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, and South Carolina, Michael opted to play for Ed Oregan at the University of Mississippi, his adoptive parents’ alma mater. This scene was beautifully portrayed in the film “The Blind Side.”
Oher began his career as an offensive guard for the Ole Miss Rebels, appearing in ten games and earning first-team All-American honors. He was named to various preseason All-Conference and All-American teams after shifting to left tackle for the 2006 season.
As a result, he was named ‘Division II (2A) Lineman of the Year as well as ‘First Team Tennessee All-State.’ Oher was also rated a ‘five-star recruit’ by Scout.com.
